Free Update For Line 6 POD HD

25/11/2011 Bookmark and Share

Press Release: Line 6, Inc. have announced a free update for their POD HD multi-effect processors. Firmware update v1.4 will give guitarists additional features including enhanced MIDI control, faster gating, variable input impedance and new input flexibility.

"This latest update reflects our mission to make POD HD extremely intuitive, even while offering an extraordinary range of features," said Elliot Chenault, Product Manager at Line 6. "Firmware update v1.4 provides new ways to sculpt and control your tone, while improving ease of use.”

New Variable Input Impedance gives guitarists eight selectable options to enhance their tone. When set to "auto," the impedance matches that of the first amp or effect in the chain, creating the same response as plugging into the modeled original. Seven discrete resistor values (22k, 32k, 70k, 90k, 230k, 1M, 3.5M) can also be selected to further sculpt the sound, actually changing the analogue circuitry. Impedance settings are saved with each preset.

New Global Input Selection mode means guitarists can play through any combination of effects and tones from a single input source. When guitarists need their POD HD multi-effect processor to remember different input sources, they can simply toggle Preset Input Selection mode.
The new Hard Gate is an advanced gate capable of extremely quick response. With controls for hold time, decay rate, and separate open/close thresholds, Hard Gate is ideal for any genre including Metal. It can even be used to create erratic “sputter” and “splat” effects.

Enhanced MIDI Control enables guitarists to control POD HD500 and POD HD Pro with external MIDI controllers. A variety of functions including Footswitch 1-8, Tap Tempo, Tuner, Looper Controls, and Expression Pedals can all be accessed via standard MIDI messages.

(Note: MIDI control is available for POD HD500 and POD HD Pro only.)

To get Firmware update v1.4, just connect your POD HD via USB to your computer, run Line 6 Monkey™ and follow the instructions. Learn more about the v1.4 update and POD HD multi-effect processors at http://www.line6.com/podhd

JoeCo BlackBox Recorder Major Software Update

19/10/2011
JoeCo BlackBox Recorder
Press Release: JoeCo Limited has announced a major software update for its award-winning BlackBox Recorder series. Version 2.2 contains a number of features designed to give the user greater working efficiency and includes many benefits inherited from the development of the BlackBox BBR64-MADI and Dante Recorders.
These include enhancements to the underlying bespoke operating system alongside improved methods of displaying critical information to the user whilst maintaining the conceptual simplicity of the user interface.
Simple interface changes, from clarifying clock sources to flashing the transport controls while an operation is pending, provide a much slicker user experience, imparting more information to the user with greater speed and clarity. The Pre Fade Listen system, introduced in the BBR64-MADI development, now allows more rapid sweep through the channels with a quick return to "mix" output.
It's also faster to enter record and to finalize the Broadcast WAV files thus created; timecode reading is quicker and more accurate; master/slave performance has been enhanced and further support has been added for particular drive types. Additionally, the software now runs background checks on the drive to create a more accurate map of free space to further speed entering record.
The Player software add-on has taken advantage of improvements to triggering and now also supports v0 BWF files, which some older DAWs still produce. These and more enhancements are encapsulated in an upgraded field update manager.
"With reliability and speed key to the BlackBox, we are constantly working to ensure that our users can achieve maximum working efficiency from their recorder" said Joe Bull, JoeCo's Managing Director. "Having worked hard to develop the new BBR64-MADI and Dante systems, we like to share the benefits of these developments with our existing customers wherever possible."
The new Version 2.2 software update can be downloaded free of charge from the End User area of the JoeCo website: www.joeco.co.uk.
Visit JoeCo at the 131st AES Convention, New York, 21-23 October 2011, Booth 854.
