PRX400 series now available from JBL

Press Release: Designed to bring true professional-quality performance, power handling and durability to more affordable price points, the series includes the 15-inch PRX415M, 12-inch PRX412M and dual 15-inch PRX425 loudspeakers, as well as the 18-inch PRX418 subwoofer.

All models incorporate JBL's Sonic Guard speaker protection.

In common with all JBL Professional products, PRX400 Series loudspeakers have survived JBL's 100-hour power test, in which they are submitted to 100 hours of continuous, high-level input. The speakers also go through a barrage of unforgiving environmental and strength tests including harsh temperatures and humidity, ensuring they will perform perfectly anywhere.

All PRX400 models incorporate JBL's Sonic Guard speaker protection circuit that automatically attenuates the signal going into the high-frequency section of the speaker if too much input signal is detected, and restores normal operation when the overload condition passes.JBL PRX400 loudspeakers are designed to work hand in hand with Crown Audio's powerful and innovative XLS DriveCore and XTi2 Series amplifiers.

Crown XTi2 amplifiers incorporate enhanced pre-set performance tunings for PRX400 Series loudspeakers, including crossover points for a sat/subwoofer setup, and optimized parametric filter that bring out the full potential of PRX400 Series loudspeakers. JBL PRX400 tunings will also be available in the dbx DriveRack PA+ signal processor/complete loudspeaker management system.

The PRX400 series is available now with prices starting at £585 RRP ex VAT.

Introducing the VHT Special 12/20RT

THE PEDAL-FRIENDLY AMP WITH SELECTABLE POWER RANGES — PLUS ALL-TUBE SPRING REVERB AND TREMOLO!

Street Price from $649.99

Hayward, CA — The VHT Special 12/20RT adds tube-driven spring reverb and tube tremolo to the pedal-friendly Special 12/20 platform. The 12/20RT features two power ranges with an adjustable Watts control plus a Pentode/Triode switch, a unique preamp designed that excels with pedals, and an all-tube buffered effects loop with send and return level controls. It also features VHT’s unique Depth and Texture controls, a convenient built-in 9-volt DC pedal power supply, and an international mains voltage selector switch.

To optimize the amp for a wide variety of output tubes, the VHT Special 12/20RT offers two output-power ranges.  A special voltage range switch safely located behind the rear panel provides the proper voltages for 6V6 or EL84 output tubes (in 12-watt low-voltage/low-power mode). The high voltage 20-watt setting provides the ideal voltages for higher-power 6L6 or EL34 output tubes. The 12/20RT ships with a pair of 6V6 output tubes (VHT 6V6-to-EL84 socket adapters are required for operation with EL84 tubes). In addition, the 12/20RT’s variable Watts control can reduce the maximum output power to less than one watt for whisper-quiet volume levels.

The Special 12/20RT’s preamp was designed to bring the most out of every effects pedal with enhanced clarity, detail and controlled tube compression. Its low-impedance buffered effects-loop send can effortlessly drive the most difficult pedals without tone or signal loss. Thanks to its variable send and return level controls, the 12/20RT’s effects loop can accommodate a wide range of pedal or rack effects.

The 12/20RT’s Reverb, Tremolo, Depth and Texture controls are post effects loop, so multi-effects users can plug directly into the effect return and still benefit from the post-effects tube reverb and tremolo, while fine-tuning the output stage characteristics with the Depth and Texture controls.

The Special 12/20RT combo and head share the same chassis, circuit and layout design and configuration.

The 12/20RT Combo is loaded with a 12” VHT ChromeBack speaker.

The VHT Special 12/20RT combo has a Street price of $749.99; the Special 12/20RT head has a Street price of $649.99

Genelec Offers 8240A Bi-Amplified DSP Monitoring System

WINTER NAMM SHOW, ANAHEIM, CA — Genelec, the world’s longstanding leader in active monitoring, is exhibiting its 8240A Bi-Amplified DSP Monitoring System. Boasting performance comparable to much larger systems, the compact and powerful 8240A package is optimized for applications where a wide frequency response is needed but space is limited. The 8240A is the ideal monitoring tool for recording studios, post-production houses, broadcast installations, digital edit suites, home studios and mobile production vehicles.

The 8240A features an ingenious, flow-optimized reflex port that provides solid, clear and articulated low frequencies without compression, distortion or port noises. Combined with the advanced Genelec Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) and the rounded edges and gently curved front and sides of the MDE™ (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure™) enclosure, the result is an astoundingly flat frequency response both on and off axis. Other benefits include superb imaging precision and minimum listening fatigue.

Carefully designed DSP crossover filters with extremely steep roll-off characteristics feed dedicated power amplifiers for each of the low distortion drivers. The 8240A features magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and versatile room response controls as standard. The Genelec Loudspeaker Manager™ (GLM™) control network and software enhance further the performance of the 8240A: it features adjustment of levels, distance delays and flexible room response improvement equalization with the reliable and robust AutoCal™ automated calibration system via the GLM control network. The 8240A has both analog and AES digital inputs in combination with a digital thru connection.

Each 8240A comes with an Iso-Pod™ (Isolation Positioner/Decoupler™), which eliminates coloration of the sound by decoupling the monitor from its mounting surface. The Iso-Pod also allows the monitor to be angled so that its acoustic axis points directly at the listener. For ideal mounting in differing environments, the 8240A includes integrated rear support points for floor and wall stands, with an additional M10 threaded mounting hole on the enclosure base.

Genelec’s 8240A Bi-Amplified DSP Monitoring System is currently available with a U.S. MSRP of $2095.00.
